I decided I wanted to be a designer on a walk home from middle school.

Video games are what made me love design because of their visual art, environments, and storytelling; they made me feel emotions I didn’t know design could create. To me, good designs can evoke a feeling or even bring back a memory, and that’s the kind of connection I want my work to create.

My Cultural Identity

My identity of being both Taiwanese and Brazilian heavily influence how I view the world and my way of thinking about design. I am deeply interested in anthropology and how it is applied in human-centered design. Being raised in a multilingual household, I realize how often language barriers can limit people’s access to information.

Combined with my love of game design, this is why I’m passionate about designing experiences that help people express themselves, from illustrating personalized characters by drawing inspiration from video games to creating tools that help people navigate language barriers and better understand different cultures. I’m especially interested in how design can help people share their stories, appreciate different perspectives, and connect with others.
